Security Awareness
This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) was aimed at students of IT Security, Media Technology, and Marketing & Communication.
The programme began with a total of seven remote lectures covering a broad range of topics related to IT security awareness. These included a general introduction to the field, psychological aspects and social engineering, as well as security controls addressing technical, organisational, and human countermeasures to a wide range of threats. Privacy and legal aspects were also explored. In addition, external talks by industry and research experts provided insights into related European initiatives and projects, IT security awareness in schools, and cybercrime prevention.
During the physical week, students collaborated in international teams to develop security awareness concepts or prototypes—such as games, workshops, videos, or learning platforms—targeted at high school students and their (grand)parents. Through an on-site workshop on human-centred design, students gained practical experience, enabling them to engage with their target group, assess their needs, and pitch their ideas.
A varied social programme—including an excursion, field trip, and student party—rounded off the experience, giving participants the chance to have fun and connect with their peers.
